A background check should answer a defined question. Is a person’s work history accurate? Does a vendor’s business record match its proposal? Are two records about the same individual? The purpose shapes the research and the permissions needed.
FSO Guard’s licensed investigators provide background checks in Miami and South Florida. We compare records, verify identities and explain gaps. The report separates confirmed findings from information that still needs checking.
Background checks on people
The agreed scope determines which sources we review. An individual check may include:
- Identity and address history. We check names and other identifiers to reduce false matches.
- Relevant criminal records from lawful court and registry sources.
- Available civil records, including lawsuits and judgments within the permitted scope.
- Public financial indicators, such as bankruptcies, liens, filings and property transfers.
- Employment, education, professional licenses and business roles.
- News, public online material and other sources that help test the account provided.
- References and interviews where appropriate to the purpose of the check.
Clients request checks for business deals, senior hires, household staff, vendors and legal matters. Some requests involve tenants or property transactions. The intended use is established before research begins.

Background checks on businesses
A company review examines the available record behind a proposal. It can help identify inconsistencies before a contract or investment. Depending on scope, we check:
- Business registration, status, history and related entities.
- Owners and officers, with further checks on key people where appropriate.
- Available liens, judgments, bankruptcy and secured-interest filings.
- Relevant litigation, regulatory actions and complaints.
- Sanctions records, watchlists and adverse media within the agreed scope.
- Office locations, operations and references from past counterparties.
A complex transaction or dispute may need further field work. See corporate investigations and due diligence for options beyond a standard check.
Pre-employment and tenant screening (FCRA-compliant)
Employment, housing and credit uses may fall under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. These checks require the appropriate purpose, disclosures and authorization. Any adverse decision must follow the applicable process. We coordinate the screening workflow with the client’s HR team or counsel.
FSO Guard provides employment and tenant screening across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Senior or sensitive roles may call for a broader agreed review. The scope remains tied to the permitted purpose.
Why a licensed investigator, not a website
- Identity checks. A similar name is not enough to assign a record to someone.
- Source review. Where needed, we check the underlying court or agency record rather than relying only on a database summary.
- Professional data access. Licensed investigators use restricted-access databases lawfully, with a documented permissible purpose, that consumers cannot.
- Clear interpretation. Reports explain findings, inconsistencies and missing information without treating every database match as a fact.
- Controlled handling. Information is shared for the agreed purpose. Required disclosures are built into regulated screening workflows.
- Documented findings. Sources and exhibits support review by the client and counsel. Investigators can testify about their work.
What we will not do
We do not access private accounts without authority or obtain protected records without a lawful basis. We do not accept checks intended for stalking, harassment or discrimination.
Ask how information will be obtained and how it may be used. Our guide explains what a private investigator can and cannot do.
How it works
- Consultation. Define the decision, available information and screening process that applies.
- Written scope. Agree on sources, locations, timing and a flat fee before work begins.
- Research. Compare records and verify relevant findings. Conduct interviews if included in the scope.
- Report. Receive a plain-language summary with sources and exhibits. We can walk you through the findings.
- Follow-up. A case may call for asset research, observation, locates or TSCM sweeps under a separate agreed scope.
Cost and turnaround
Pricing is a flat fee per subject, based on scope and jurisdictions. Standard individual checks typically take one to three business days. Comprehensive reviews usually take one to two weeks. See private investigator costs in Florida for more on pricing.
